Our Commitment to Good Governance

Stockport City of Sanctuary is committed to operating in a transparent, accountable, and responsible way. Our policies and governing documents help ensure that our work is guided by clear principles, good practice, and the values of the City of Sanctuary movement.

These documents outline how we manage our activities, safeguard those who engage with our work, and ensure that concerns can be raised and addressed appropriately.

By making our policies publicly available, we aim to promote openness and demonstrate our commitment to responsible governance.

Safeguarding Policy

Our Safeguarding Policy explains how we work to protect children, young people, and vulnerable adults who may engage with our activities. It outlines our responsibilities and procedures to ensure that everyone who participates in our work can do so in a safe and supportive environment.

Safeguarding is a priority for Stockport City of Sanctuary, and we are committed to creating a culture where wellbeing, safety, and respect are central to everything we do.

Complaints Policy

Our Complaints Policy explains how individuals can raise concerns about our work or the conduct of anyone representing Stockport City of Sanctuary.

We believe that feedback and concerns should be taken seriously and handled in a fair, transparent, and timely manner. This policy sets out the process for submitting a complaint and how it will be reviewed and addressed.

Governing Document (Constitution)

Our Constitution is the governing document that sets out the purpose, aims, and structure of Stockport City of Sanctuary.

It explains how the organisation operates, including how decisions are made, how the Management Committee is formed, and how the group is governed. The constitution helps ensure that our work is carried out responsibly and in line with our mission to promote welcome and inclusion for refugees and people seeking sanctuary.

Transparency and Accountability

We believe that openness and accountability are essential to building trust with the communities we serve and the partners we work with.

Publishing our policies helps ensure that our work is conducted responsibly, ethically, and in line with our commitment to dignity, compassion, solidarity, and justice.

Policy Review

To ensure that our policies remain effective and reflect best practice, these documents are reviewed periodically by the Management Committee of Stockport City of Sanctuary.

Where necessary, policies may be updated to reflect changes in legislation, safeguarding guidance, or organisational development.
